Fendom & Dawson Solicitors | |||
| This firm did the conveyancing for my house. After the work
was completed, I realised that I was subject to annual maintenance charges. My name was also not registered into the firm (or residents' association). When I asked them about the
situation, I was faced with a brick wall. No apology was given except that I had "signed up". Despite numerous attempts to speak to the solicitor, I finally
wrote to the client care partner. No response was forthcoming. Finally, it dawned on me that they were hoping I would forget the problem. Instead, I contacted the Office for the
Supervision of Solicitors. When contacted by the Law Society, they gave an explanation effectively blaming the legal staff. Surely, the solicitor signed the letter telling me everything
had been completed. The Law Society upheld my complaint, noting that I was still concerned that the firm refused to apologise. They wrote to say that Fendom
& Dawson would however, be asked to complete the transaction and they would offer a compensation. My main issue is that Fendom Dawson Solicitors have
refused to apologise. I am tolerant of mistakes, but do not appreciate a problem being ignored. I am prompted to write this, because I learnt with dismay, that my neighbour also
faced a similar problem with this firm, with no improvement in their behaviour. Solicitors should not be afraid to deal with complaints; when the Law Society upholds a complaint, it
shows the complaints handling process of a firm has completely failed. The letter from the Law Society, on one occasion mentions "the firm has provided a
poor service". In the second case, the term "inadequate professional service" was provided. Wouldn't it be better if the firm deals with the problem
rather than having their poor service imortalised on paper like this?
